In 2017 / 2018 Fire and Rescue Authorities attended 15,577 fires in commercial and other non-domestic buildings in England alone. These fires resulted in 20 fatalities and 994 injures. It is mentioned that around 50% of the businesses who suffer from fire damage in their buildings never recover.
In addition, there are stringent duties imposed on the owners and occupiers (including landlords and tenants) of commercial and other non-domestic buildings under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to put in place a number of different measures for fire prevention and life safety in their buildings. The provision of Fire Safety, Fire Marshall and Fire Warden training to relevant staff members is one of the above measures.
It is therefore important that each and every organisation has the sufficient number of staff trained Fire Marshall and Fire Warden to ensure their business and staff are protected from accidental or deliberate fire damage and also to achieve compliance with the legal requirements.
This training is intended for individuals who have been nominated as Fire Marshalls or Fire Wardens in their organisation. The course aims to make the attendees aware of the origin and sources of fire in commercial and other non-domestic buildings, the implications of fire and how to implement the fire prevention and protective measures.
