Introduction

What is a Building Logbook ?

Part L of the Building Regulations (Conservation of Fuel and Power) requires that the owner of a newly completed building is issued with information about the building services to help them operate the building properly and efficiently. A Building Log book is prepared for to fulfil this requirement.

Building Log books are usually produce in line with the guidance by Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) TM31 Log Book Toolkit

Our Building Log books service is offered in line with and fulfilling the requirements of Part L Building Regulations (Conservation of Fuel and Power) and includes the following:

  • We use CIBSE TM31 Log Book Kit for the preparation of Building Log books in order for it to meet the requirements of Building Regulations.
  • Most of information for Building Log books is extracted from the Design, Drawings and Specifications, from relevant Building Services Engineer and the Principal Contractor.
  • Certain sections of the Building Log books will need to be continuously updated by the intended occupier of the completed building or the relevant Facilities Manager.
  • Following the collection of information, as above, we compile Building Log books using CIBSE TM31 Log Book template.
  • We issue the draft Building Log books for comments and feedback to relevant parties.
  • We amend and update the draft Building Log books taking into account received comments and feedback.
  • We then issue the final version of Building Log books on CDs, USBs or in hardcopies format, as required, with sections highlighted for completion by the intended occupier of the completed building or the relevant Facilities Manager, where relevant.
